1. There is no difference in meaning between TAKEN ABACK 1 and TAKEN ABACK 2. They are variants of 'taken aback' in KSL. 2. Note movement of eyebrows. This is an important part of the sign. 3. While 'taken aback' is a two-word phrase in English, it is one sign in KSL.

Description

Both O-Handshapes with palms facing out are placed on either side of head. They both move up and away from head while opening into Full Open Handshapes.

Memory Aid

At first, hands indicate the shape of normal eyes and then open to indicate widened eyes.
